The National Assembly Library recently served as the critical meeting ground for a high-level policy dialogue, specifically convened to discuss Nigeria’s strategic positioning in the dynamic global landscape. Spearheading the hosting of this event was Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, the Pioneer Executive Secretary who showcased the institution’s pivotal role in shaping informed national discourse.
The Gathering of Leaders

The dialogue attracted a distinguished cross-section of leaders from the legislative and executive arms of government, underscoring the commitment to a unified approach to national strategy. Key attendees included:
- The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu.
- The Minister of State for Finance, Hon. Doris Uzoka-Anite.
- Several distinguished Senators and Honourable members of the National Assembly.

This convergence provided a robust platform for senior policymakers and technical experts to engage in thoughtful and evidence-based conversation on issues critical to Nigeria’s place in the world.
NALTF: The Engine Room for Informed Policy
In his address, Hon. Nwawuba went beyond welcoming the guests, offering a clear vision for the National Assembly Library. He emphasized that the Library is being transformed into much more than a repository; it is intended to be the intellectual hub for dialogue, research support, and informed policymaking.

Drawing on his experience as a former parliamentarian and a proven reformer, he detailed the strategic expansion currently underway at NALTF:
- Digital Resource Expansion: Hon. Nwawuba highlighted the effort to rapidly expand the Library’s digital resources and documentation systems, ensuring legislators have instant access to global best practices and verifiable data.
- A Platform for Clarity: He stressed that NALTF is creating a vital non-partisan platform where complex national issues can be analyzed with the clarity and depth necessary to formulate effective, long-term policies.

This commitment reflects Hon. Nwawuba’s career-long dedication to bringing accountability and research to the forefront of governance.
Pledging Support for Legislative Capacity
The session was deemed highly productive, yielding rich insights into how Nigeria can better leverage its assets and navigate international relations. Concluding his remarks, Hon. Nwawuba offered a firm pledge to continuously support initiatives that enhance our legislative capacity and, critically, deepen Nigeria’s strategic engagement with global partners.

The success of the High-Level Policy Dialogue firmly establishes the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, under Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba’s pioneering leadership, as a key national institution driving evidence-based governance and preparing Nigeria for its future role on the world stage.
