Democracy grows stronger when we share knowledge, challenge existing frameworks, and learn from the experiences of other legislative jurisdictions.
Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, welcomeed a distinguished delegation from the UK House of Commons to the National Assembly Library. Hosting MP Kate Osamor and MP Helen Grant provided a wonderful platform to engage in a forward-thinking dialogue about the future of parliamentary governance and the critical institutions that support it.

“Fostering stronger relationships between parliamentary institutions across international borders is essential for building more effective, transparent, and responsive legislative systems.”
A Shared Vision for Modern Parliaments
According to Nwawuba, “Our engagement was both timely and deeply insightful. We exchanged valuable perspectives on parliamentary practice, the critical role of data and knowledge management, and how legislative institutions must evolve to meet the complex demands of modern democratic governance.
“Having served in parliament myself, I know firsthand that lawmakers are only as effective as the information they have access to. That is why transforming our library into a cutting-edge research repository is a mission I am deeply passionate about. Discussing how the UK House of Commons approaches these same structural challenges offered incredible insights that we can adapt to our local context.”

Looking Ahead to Global Collaborations
The executive secretary expressed his gratitude to MPs Osamor and Grant for taking the time to visit, bringing their wealth of experience, and sharing their valuable insights with the library team.
“This visit is just the beginning of what I envision as a continuous, robust exchange of ideas. I look forward to deeper collaborations that will not only elevate the capabilities of the National Assembly Library but also strengthen the historical and democratic ties between our nations,” he added.
