The National Assembly Library recently served as an inspirational setting for the Fellows-In-Training (FITs) of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative (LMI). The young, driven Nigerians were hosted by Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Library, who delivered a masterclass presentation designed to equip the next generation of leaders.
The Vision Behind National Assembly Library
During the session, which took place within the Library premises, Hon. Nwawuba offered a deep dive into the purpose of the Library. He personally walked the FITs through the foundational vision behind the establishment of the National Assembly Library.
He detailed how the institution is designed to be the definitive knowledge repository for Nigeria’s democracy, ensuring that policy and legislative actions are always grounded in thorough research and historical context.
Furthermore, he shared the significant progress his team has recorded since the Library’s inception, highlighting the foundational steps being taken to build a world-class resource center.

Broadening Understanding of National Heritage
The Fellows-In-Training, representing a cohort of focused and eager young Nigerians, seized the opportunity to broaden their understanding of Nigeria’s legislative history and national heritage.
Hon. Nwawuba emphasized the immense potential of the LMI participants, noting that like other past cohorts, this group is keenly focused on making meaningful contributions in their various fields—from policy to entrepreneurship. Their engagement with the Library’s resources and historical documents is crucial for developing leaders who are both ambitious and deeply informed.

Grooming the Next Generation
Concluding his address, Hon. Nwawuba reiterated NALTF’s enduring commitment to future leadership:
“We will continue to invest in grooming the next generation of leaders who are informed, prepared, and capable,” he stated.

By opening the Library’s doors and sharing the institutional insights, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba ensures that the foundation he is building today directly supports the capacity of Nigeria’s leaders of tomorrow. The masterclass was a powerful reminder that institutional strength and effective governance rely on a continuous pipeline of well-informed, prepared talent.
