The Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba recently delivered a welcome remark at the National GovTech Policy Roundtable 2026, a high-level gathering focused on the digital transformation of Nigeria.

Themed “Digital First Governance: Rethinking How Nigerian Governments Serve, Engage and Deliver,” the event was a collaborative effort between the National Assembly Library, the Office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, and GovTech Africa Inc.

Setting the Strategic Tone

While delivering his remark, Nwawuba posed a series of critical questions to the assembled experts and policymakers, challenging them to rethink the current architecture of public service. His questions focused on:

  • Transformational Technology: How can we move beyond digitizing old processes to fundamentally transforming how government functions?
  • Optimized Service Delivery: In what ways can technology eliminate bottlenecks and ensure that every Nigerian receives efficient, transparent service?
  • Strengthened Citizen Engagement: How do we leverage digital platforms to build a more inclusive and responsive relationship between the government and the governed?

A Convergence for Innovation

The roundtable served as a productive and insightful engagement, reinforcing the idea that the future of Nigeria is digital. By bringing together the legislative expertise of the National Assembly and the technical vision of GovTech Africa Inc., the event underscored the importance of:

  • Innovation: Adopting cutting-edge tools to modernize the public sector.
  • Collaboration: Breaking down institutional silos to work toward a unified digital goal.
  • Policy Alignment: Ensuring that our laws and regulations are flexible enough to keep pace with rapid technological change.

The session concluded with a renewed commitment to building a more responsive and technologically advanced public sector—one that doesn’t just keep up with the world but sets a standard for governance across the continent.
