The Executive Secretary, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, hosted the Secretariat of the Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill for a courtesy and appreciation visit at his National Assembly Library office.

The visit served to celebrate a successful working partnership: throughout the formulation of the Bill, the Library has served as the Secretariat’s intellectual base, providing the conducive research environment needed to craft this landmark security framework.

Translating Research into Transformative Legislation

During the session, Rt. Hon. Nwawuba and the delegation reviewed key milestones achieved in drafting the National Policing Bill, discussed the next legislative phases, and explored plans for upcoming multi-stakeholder policy dialogues.

Drawing from his extensive experience as a veteran federal parliamentarian, Rt. Hon. Nwawuba noted that national security architecture cannot be reformed through rhetoric alone. It demands rigorous statutory drafting, broad consultation, and a deep understanding of operational realities on the ground. He emphasized that supporting the Working Group reflects his vision to transform the Library from a quiet archival facility into a vibrant engine room for nation-building.

“Enduring legislative reforms are built on verified research, deliberate dialogue, and institutional collaboration. By providing the environment for drafters and policymakers to do their best work, we lay the groundwork for laws that protect citizens and earn their trust.”

Guiding the Path to Legislative Success

The delegation formally expressed their deep gratitude to Rt. Hon. Nwawuba for his steadfast support, noting that the Library’s resources and conducive environment were pivotal to their operational efficiency.

Nwawuba reaffirmed personal and institutional resolve and dedication to facilitating the policy dialogues and research engagements necessary to ensure the National Policing Bill secures broad national consensus and achieves smooth legislative passage.
