Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba recently received a highly significant international courtesy visit to his office at the the National Assembly Library.
The Executive Secretary, welcomed Ms. Nazila Ghanea, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief, and Ms. Helle Dahl Iversen, a UN Human Rights Officer.
The dialogue between Rt. Hon. Nwawuba and the distinguished United Nations representatives was both deeply intellectual and forward-looking. The Executive Secretary emphasized that lawmakers cannot draft fair, inclusive policies in a vacuum; they require thorough, unbiased data and research—exactly what the National Assembly Library is being transformed to provide.
As a veteran public servant with a rich legislative track record, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba highlighted that protecting religious freedoms and fostering democratic inclusion are not just legal boxes to tick, but the actual bedrock of national peace and sustainable development.
